haha omg ysc today was quite fun! haha. but the vip presentations were quite boring. :/ except for the last group. haha. people kept asking such dumb but interesting questions. lol. they kept on asking things like "what if the web cam breaks down?" and stuff like that. haha. and there was this guy who kept posing questions to all 3 groups. sheesh. so by the time it was the 3rd group's turn, he didn't need to introduce himself anymore. haha so he just went"hi it's me again!" sigh. so weird.
yeah anyway. haha i collected the certificates of participation on behalf of our school! haha. supposed to collect them with ms goh, but in the end i went with this teacher called mr de souza. or something like that. haha. and of course, we received our distinction certs too! haha.[which turned out to be just blank pieces of paper :/]
yeah then it was poster viewing session. haha. 2 people asked me questions! (: hee. but so sad, we didn't get to eat much. :/ anyway. poster viewing got really boring after a while cos the crowd left to watch the concurrent sessions so there was really no point in standing by the posters any longer. yeah so i went to watch the concurrent sessions with sufen. but then we were late, so we decided not to go in cos the doors opened from the front and it's very malu to walk in so late right. haha. so we sat on the staircase for a while. my feet were burning up already. :/ yeppyepp. then we went to this concurrent session for computer stuff, which turned out to be totally boring. so we left and went for another one instead. sigh.
haha. then after that we took down our posters. lol xuyan is such a genius! haha cos we were all looking for rubber bands or anything with which we could keep our posters properly rolled up. then yanyan saw the plastic bags for the umbrellas! haha so we grabbed them and stuffed our posters into them. haha i was poster-roller. cos i'm so pro at rolling things up into thin rolls (: *beams.*
ohh and i decided to hitch a ride from yanyan to the main road so i didn't have to walk all the way out. my feet were really killing me. :/ haha. while waiting for yanyan's parents, a lot of funny things happened. lol. like huirong asked me to guess what colour her bra was. so i was thinking of different colours. haha then yanyan guessed silver! lol. turns out she thought hhr said "car". well, silver car makes more sense than silver bra. haha.
yeah and guess what? while waving to ms goh, i accidentally dropped my handphone and it flew up in a perfect parabola, just like the graph of a quadratic function with negative coeff of x-squared. sigh. my poor phone lah. and to other people, it must have looked like i flung my handphone across the road. sheesh. at least one ri guy was nice enough to help me pick it up. cos he was nearer to the road. haha. my poor phone. at least it's still functioning well (:
yeah anyway, here are some pics. haha i think you can click on them to enlarge them (:

our poster which earned a distinction! haha. i'm so proud of it.

longlong and i in front of our poster (:

yanyan and i in front of her distinction-winning poster (: yanyan is so cute haha.

joyce, yanyan and myself (: haha i removed my blazer cos it was quite hot, and anyway the conference had ended already (:

zhihui, yingyan and myself (: hee. zhihui and yingyan look so compatible haha (x

hanhuirong and me! haha. huirong is making some cute funny face (:
today rocked! haha. and so does tower of hanoi! (:

omg! today is possibly one of the best days ever! haha. ysc poster judging! (: hee. it was so exciting omg :p haha and we got to miss assembly and all the blocks after that! haha! lol it was raining as we left the school which, according to someone [i can't remember who] was supposed to be a bad omen. yeah and we had to dash from the bus into the convention hall. bahh.
ohh and we had to wear formal uniform. like blazer and blouse and tie and culottes and whatnots. haha joyce said i looked like a paikia prefect. haha sigh. omg and someone said i look like joyce! lolz. maybe only the uniform. without the prefect badge haha. (:
omg the auditorium at ngee ann poly is hugeee! when you go in by the main entrance, all you see on both sides are just rows and rows of chairs which extend really high up. haha. a bit freaky at first. yeah anyway. when we reached there, we pasted the velcro strips on our poster first, then put our posters up on the boards outside.
valencia and i were in category A and we were the last in our category to present! haha. there were only 4 math projects there, including ours. but the other 3 looked very pro compared to ours, so longlong was freaking out and going "can we just lose?! " sigh. how sad is that. yeah so i was comforting her by saying that we still had a chance and all that. haha. and guess what? i'm so happy! we got DISTINCTION! haha. i think only 4 rgs groups got distinction for poster! i'm so proud of ourselves! haha. i'm not sure exactly how many groups got distinction though, but i think it's about 11 or 12?a lot of ri groups got distinction. :/ ohhh yanyan got distinction too! so happy! (: haha. and zhihui and yingyan had merit! haha. quite good right? (:
lol. i seriously didn't expect it. haha. i mean we weren't bad, but our Q and A was a bit funny! cos the judges looked like they really didn't know what questions to ask us! so they started asking funny funny questions. like one of them asked "do you think there is a proof for the 4 peg theorem?" haha. so i said "erm. i believe that in math, for everything, at least one proof will definitely exist." or something like that. then she looked like she didn't know whether to laugh or not. i saw her lips twitching. sigh. the question sounded like a personal opinion kind of question okay. haha longlong was upset that they didn't ask more challenging questions during Q and A.
haha kaiyin is super funny! omg. she tells such funny jokes. like the paddy and paddy one. haha omg. (: damn funny! and entertaining! haha. sigh. i wonder why margaret and longlong said the joke wasn't funny. it was sooo funny! i laughed till i cried okay. but nvm. joyce found it funny too! (: yayy.
but now my feet hurt like shit! sigh. the bones in my sole hurt. so does my bunion. and some parts of my sole are blistering. my toes hurt. sigh. and the condition of my feet was greatly aggravated after the whole thing cos i had to walk out from the convention centre all the way to the main entrance of ngee ann poly first[the convention hall is very deep in! :/] and then i had to walk some distance to the overhead bridge, cross the overhead bridge, take bus, then take overhead bridge again, then walk quite some distance before i reached my house. thank goodness the lift stops right on my floor lahh.
sigh. i really don't know how i made it home. i was like staggering all the way! and then my feet felt like they were burning and i really really wanted to just sit by the side of the road and wait for dunnowhat to happen. haha but i decided that i could sit there for ages and there wouldn't be any magic carpet to take me home anyway. so i just struggled. i am determined and resilient :D *ego* terrible court shoes. and i still have to wear them tomorrow! i was telling longlong that i wouldn't have any feet left by then. :/ joking of course.
sigh i'm so sleepy now. can't wait for tomorrow! haha.
i'm still very happy anyway! we rock! (x

yayy math test is over! (: haha. finally. (: no more horrid graphs for the rest of the year! whee! (:
haha anyway. this week has been quite boring. :/ sigh. ohh but yesterday i was going high after lunch! haha we all were. hee. cos joyce told vionna and me that our
pro installation art thingy that we did at the eco pond last year was shown to the sec 2s this year! haha. i'm so proud of ourselves! <33 we are such artsy fartsy people! we rock! [and so do water hyacinths! (: ] hee. i think installation art was quite fun anyway! (: *beams* haha yeah anyway i conveyed the good news to as many group mates as i could! haha. (: yayy.
yeah so i was being very happy and didn't realise that i was stepping on a poster thingy which was actually directions to the koi pond. haha. yeah. margie kicked it and i stepped on it. whoops. then joyce squealed and quickly stuck it back on the wall... haha. but the funny thing was that she stuck it wrongly ><>< lol i think we were just hyper. :p
today was supposed to be german orals! but i have to miss it cos the sch cancelled orals for all sec 3 third lang girls. SO SAD! german oral is fun! boohoo. all because of some stupid moe survey thing. hmph. and i wasn't even affected anyway. sigh. and yanyan is mean! she said that all the lousy people are the ones who weren't chosen to take the survey. and yingyan agrees with her! hmph. i feel
marginalised. [and no, yanyan, i am not going to stand on a margin. :p]
nvm. the rest of the week is gonna be super exciting i bet (: friday and saturday: ysc! haha our poster is pro and pretty! (: but it cost $25. heartache. :/ friday is poster judging! gahh. the good thing is that i get to miss assembly (: hee. and sat is ysc itself. haha i bet that'll be exciting. (: just that we have to wear formal uniform and court shoes for the whole day! gahh.
talking about ysc just made me think of ms goh, which reminds me that i need to get the gross black stuff out of my testtubes. sigh. it has been there since like 3 weeks ago. heh i meant to bring it home to wash but i keep forgetting. :/

german classmate: hi joyce! haha. this really sounds like something you'd do :p bonjour is french not german! haha but good try anyway. (: qoo is ugly! haha. x)

omg the local immersion programme just ended today. :/ so sad. haha this whole week felt so short. :/ bleah. anyway. i think everyone in klasse 9 has been very nice and kind to all of us, so here's a big thank you to you, klasse 9! (: haha. even those who were cold at first became nicer over the days. yepp. (: ohh gosh. yeah so my week at GESS was really enjoyable thanks to all of you (: haha. heh today we were all exchanging email addresses and stuff. it got pretty sad towards the end of the day but, nvm. we'll keep in touch! haha okay.
so here's an update on the last 2 days.
thursday.
haha okay. we had geog and math in the morning. heh no wonder math was so boring for the last 3 days! haha we didn't realise that they split classes during math, physics, chem, bio, deutsch and french! they split the class into 2: those who are better, and those who are bad. yeah! so for the last 3 days, we were in the "bad" math class... that's why it was so boring! haha.
so anyway, on thurs, we went to the "better" math class so it was more interesting. (: *beams* they were doing things like solving simultaneous equations. they have a different way of solving the equations! neither by elimination or substitution. i dunno, it's some confusing way. yeah. this math teacher is very good! haha. ooh and he looks like french footballer zidane! with the shaved head and squarish beard. similar build too! haha so cool right. yeah and he's the physics teacher for the "better" class, and the form teacher of klasse 9 too! haha. i think he's called herr sprung or something. (x
german was boring. sigh. i expected it to be interesting, but no. they were annotating german poems. totally boring. the teacher was boring too. and strict. :/ haha then french. we got chased out of class, cos they were having a french test. so the teacher was like "they're having a test now! there's nothing for you to see... maybe you can go to the Bibliothek! " yeah okay. so we went to the library. haha. the library is small but cosy. and there's a very warm smell of coffee in the library. and the books there are all very new (: *beams* so i just sat there and read artemis fowl: the opal deception (: haha.
next was this lesson called TUT. erm. it's something like our cle; they use it for discussing class issues and stuff. yeah so basically they spent some time complaining to zidane-lookalike about the cafeteria. yeah dunno what they were complaining about, but he said he'd do something about it. then we played jeopardy! haha it was just general knowledge kinda questions. there were 6 categories: history, geog, entertainment, sport, politics and technology, and there were 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 point questions. (: heh it was really fun! we split into 2 teams for the game, but in the end it was a draw. haha. despite the fact that my team lost 1000 points for answering the 1000 pt geog question wrongly. (: ohhh and haha one of the history questions was: when was The Wall built? haha. obviously, the wall in question was the berlin wall right? but then one of the students asked: do you mean the chinese one or what? lol. anyway. the team didn't know when the berlin wall was built. that's kinda sad cos they're native german! haha.
friday.
double block german in the morning. damn boring. i tried listening for a while, then gave up. so i spent the rest of the time looking out of the window. [the classroom window overlooks the carpark and the main gate] yeah so i saw many kindergarten kids walking in, pushing their sibling's stroller. so cute right. the strollers are even bigger than them! (: hee. then i saw 2 boys playing with the primitive kinda string telephone. (: then i saw a teacher hugging a parent. yeah.
next was physics. haha. they were doing some online research, so we were left to our devices. (:
next: history. boring. more bismarck stuff again. this time, about bismarck and the catholic community. hmmm. then math. the usual! solving equations and stuff. but not so boring. whew.
i realised that their science lessons are very interesting, but their humanz lessons are totally ugh. hmm. same in our school (:
lunch! haha my first time having lunch in the school. (: it was not bad... quite nice. today's meal was sirloin steak, potatoes, tomato with cheese, and salad. (: hee. herr neiser dropped by during lunch to settle some admin stuff. haha. yeah so after eating, we were exchanging contacts and just sitting around the courtyard. haha. then there was this guy talking to us. haha. he pretended that he was katharina's father. then he said he comes every break to chase the boys away from katharina. lol. then after that he said he was actually her bodyguard. :p lol. yeah so he proudly scanned the vicinity and said, "see, no boys around! " lol so amusing. (: turns out he was a dutch pe teacher. lolz.
chem! haha. double block. i'm so glad i stayed back for it. it really rocked! even though they were doing periodic trends, which we've already covered in school. haha. they have cool protective gear! it's like this long visor covering the whole face, with a little helmet on top. haha. i think it's safer that way. oohh but the scary thing is that they don't have test tube holders! so when the teacher was trying to test for hydrogen, he just held the testtube near the flame with this bare hands! like omg. :/ freaky! then he showed us the reactivity of sodium with water. and then we were burning some compounds too. there was one that burned with a red flame. like, really red. but i can't remember which compound it was. :/ohh i forgot to mention that the chem teacher is also the hot bio teacher. same person. maybe they don't have enough teachers or something.
yeah so it's over! sigh. we took some pictures, but i don't have them now... i'll post them when my friends email the pics to me. yepp. then you all can see the students! haha. their looks are not bad (: quite nice. mostly.
argh. back to school next week. :/
anyway.
i went to clementi arcade at sunset way with my mom to eat the mille crepes! haha. it's the famous one in the newspapers! the one where you pile up 20 pieces of crepes to make a cake-like thingy. it rocked! haha. i like the caramel thingy on top! haha well actually i luved the whole thing! haha. (:
yepp okay. that's it for today (: haha.

haha here's an update on my very interesting week! (:
okay.
monday:
haha there were supposed to be 15 moelc students at the german school, but only 8 of us turned up.. haha but nvm. small group is more fun. (: hee okay. the school is very very nice! it's really green, as in the building is green, and it's situated in bukit tinggi road which is quite forested. (: yeah so the environment is pretty nice. (: and not so swelteringly hot too. duh. the forest is quite thick there. (: haha and it's also green in the sense that it's full of recycling bins here and there, and you don't see a single plastic bag in sight, not even in the canteen [they use plates; and strictly no take-away food] yeah and if they need carriers, they use jute bags. very environmentally friendly. (: i like (:
ohh and the canteen is very nice. it's really clean and bright, and they don't have multiple stalls. they just have this buffet-table-like thingy, with 2 refrigerators for drinks. yeah. and the counter is manned by singaporean aunties who try and act germie by wearing green contact lenses, which look so totally ewww on them. :/ ugh.
ohh and they don't have long canteen benches. they have those cool patio tables and proper chairs with proper backing. (: and the toilet is really clean too [considering the fact that the toilet is in the canteen]
yeah okay anyway. so i was posted to klasse 9 with xiwen[nygh girl] and jiwei[ ri guy] and another ri guy[i still dunno his name]the rest of the moelc students were posted to klasse 8a and klasse 8b. haha. the people in our class are about 14 to 15 years old, but they look at least 17. like they are so mature. the girls wear perfume and make-up and dangling earrings. yeah so in this sense i like singaporean schools better. [i mean, students should dress like students right?] and they have to wear a green shirt[part of the uniform] but they can wear whatever bottom they wish to. and they can just wear their own blouse under the green shirt, and not button the green shirt. some of them come in flip flops. ohhh and they are allowed to bring their own laptops for note taking. haha but half the time, they're actually on msn. hmm.
haha i realised that the students in the school can be classified into 2 broad categories: the cold, and the friendly. yeah. but the friendly ones were really nice. sehr nett. (: they showed us round the school very hospitably.
our buddies from klasse 9 are: Katarina, Luise, Anne and Tanja. (: Katarina is very very nice, Luise has unique slanted grey eyes, Anne is also very very nice [she added me to msn. (: yayy] Tanja is also very nice and cool; she's half german and half honky, so the only part of her that looks european is her sharp nose.
yeah anyway. first 2 blocks was Sport. the girls and boys are separated during sport; the boy do swimming and the girls do football. (: haha. yeah they're all very pro at football. haha. but i got quite bored cos the sport lesson lasted for like 1.5 hours! yeah.[ i'd scream if i have to do softball for 1.5 hours during pe. ] i like their sports complex! it's really cool... it's some distance away from the main building, so you have to walk along this rainforest-trail-like thingy to get to the sports complex. and the multipurpose hall in the sports complex is really cool. it's just this beeeg hall with all the necessary equipment like soccer nets, basketball hoops, badminton nets, etc. and the basketball hoops and badminton nets are suspended from the ceiling by metal pieces and wires, so if you wanna use them, you have to press some button and they'll be lowered to the ground. but if you don't need them, you can leave them on the ceiling so they don't make the hall look congested. (: yeah.
then it was a ten minute break before french. haha. they were learning letter writing, which i attempted to learn, but didn't really understand it. haha but i roughly know the format. (: the writer's address is at the top left corner, and then the date[la date!] and the dunno what is on the top right hand corner (: beams and then there's the la salutations[whatever that is] at the bottom. see, i am pro! (;
then it was a 20 min break. then music for 1.5 hours. music was stupid. they were singing, and then after that they were doing some grade 1 theory kinda stuff. [which they were struggling through]
and that was it. slack day right. kinda boring. but still fun anyway.
tuesday:
first 2 blocks: biologie! haha i haven't felt so interested in bio for a long time! haha. yeah they were learning about the brain and the nervous system. i think their bio teacher is really really good! he really
teaches. yeah. now i know a little about the brain and the sympathicus and parasympathicus. (: hee. and i had to take notes in german. (: haha everyone there writes with typical german handwriting (: cool :p
10 min break, then english. boring. they were learning about clauses and law breaking and stuff. bleah. haha the english teacher was proudly proclaiming the fact that he had never broken the law before. o.0
big achievement. and then it was 20 min break again, then geog. haha we were all struggling through the worksheet on climate. rainfall and stuff. haha. but it was fun yeah. (: then was math. gags. they were doing graphs! omg. thank goodness it was linear graphs only. (:
wednesday!
heh. first block history. they were learning about the different parties in parliament. haha and dunno why the history teacher just decided to ask me about Bismarck. so i was like "huh?" and then he was like, "nein? du weisst nicht wer Bismarck ist?" ["no? you don't know who bismarck is?"] oops. apparently he's some important figure in german history. heh.
then religion. they split up into 3 classes: catholic, protestant and i think lutheran. duh i went to the catholic one. the teacher is pretty strict. haha but the lesson was quite funny. he gave us this cartoon map of the "country of love" and asked us to pick our favourite state. so most people picked things like the state of peace, or the state of happy love, or the state of true love, etc.[if you're wondering why they sound so corny, it's because i translated the german names literally haha] lol. then the ri guy whose name i don't know picked a really weird state: the state of fixed ideas! hmmm. then everyone was like" huh" and the teacher said very diplomatically, "now that's new, why that choice?" haha.
yepp then next was ict. like our comp studs lessons. then math. the usual graphs. and then physics. haha they're doing electricity now. calculating resistance and stuff. and we did a practical too. (: fun. haha. (: i realised the germans are pretty advanced in the sciences, but not so for math. haha.
yeah so anyway. 2 days more! haha ohh on friday, i'm gonna stay back until 3 o'clock just to sit in for their chem lessons! [normally i stay until 12:30] haha. it's the only chem lesson they'll be having in the week and i really really wanna have chem in german! haha. it's like combining my 2 favourite subjects together! (: hee so exciting.
okay gtg

haha i got rid of the potterpuffs, and i replaced them with this artsy autumn sonnet-ish thing, which can't be seen on my computer [dunno if you all can see it too? ] how sad is that? :/ haha.
anyway. wheee i think my sept hols rock! (:
haha okay. let's start from teachers' day. haha nothing much really, just aces day routine and then teachers' day concert (: haha the concert was uber funny! (x whee.
then last friday. (: haha. i was out for like practically the whole day! (: hee. okay in the morning my parents and i went to tiong bahru market for breakfast. haha at first i didn't wanna go, cos i thot it was one of those typical smelly and dirty wet markets. haha but now i'm glad i went, because it was really clean and dry and nice! (: haha they revamped the whole place. and omg, the food centre is really big! i've never seen such a beeeg food centre in my whole life! haha. yeah so anyway we ate a lot of yummy stuff! hee i like the tapioca thingy. (: *beams*
the shops there are quite cool too. they sell quite trendy stuff (: whee. haha anyway. then we went to tiong bahru plaza to watch 'the devil wears prada' haha. nice show (: haha. it's about this girl who works for a really demanding boss in a fashion magazine company. haha. it was quite hilarious. (: hee and the clothes rocked! haha. (:
okay. saturday. [yesterday] hmmm let me think. oh yeah. i watched the vcd 'il mare'. hee it's this korean show; the one that 'the lakehouse' was adapted from. (: hee. apparently the plot and characterization and everything is almost exactly the same. but yeah. it's a really sweet show. and really cool too! haha. i mean, how cool is it to correspond with someone in a different time zone? but it's kinda sad too, cos the girl never really knew how the guy looked like, because he was living in a time zone 2 years behind. omg. then it was pretty confusing too. i'm still not sure what happened in the end. i mean like, in one part, they showed the guy with blood flowing
from his head, and then in another part, they showed the same thing, just that the blood was flowing back
into his head! sheesh.
i think i'd rather watch lakehouse. sandra bullock and keanu reeves! and at least, they'll be speaking english. (: nice cast too. (: haha. but the vcd isn't out yet. :/
ohh and guess why my sept hols are gonna be real exciting? (: hee cos from monday to friday, i'll be going on the local immersion programme to the german school in singapore! hahaha. yayyy. how fun is that? i'll be sitting in for their lessons! (: whee. except that most of my hols will be spent on this, but thank goodness school is only until 3 pm for the german students, and 1 pm for us. (: ohhh but we have to report to sch at 7:50 every morning, so there goes my chance of sleeping late in the mornings. sigh. but never mind. i'll sleep early at night! haha. (:
